How we help your members

A Reputation of Trust

Over the years, we have built our reputation based on trust, whereby Local Union Leadership and members can depend on us to deliver advice and financial product solutions that are best suited for the members’ needs. Here are some of the services which we offer active and retiring members.

Active Members

One of the biggest takeaways from our retirement planning workshops is hearing members say that they wished they had started saving earlier and put more money into their 401(k). Based on that need, we have produced an online educational video on our website which can be linked to the Local’s website to encourage members to participate more fully in their company 401(k) plan. The 15 minute video is not a sales presentation, instead it provides educational information on the basic features and benefits of a 401(k) plan. As a follow-up we offer members:

  • A complimentary counseling service on the selection of funds available in their 401(k) plan, rather than having them make the mistakes many make of being too conservative or too risky, or not participating at all
  • A complimentary Plan and Savings Analysis which allows members to determine if they are on track to meet their retirement goals

Retiring Members

For members that are approaching or preparing for retirement, we offer educational retirement planning workshops focusing on answering important questions such as:

  • How much retirement income will you need?
  • How will inflation affect your income?
  • Should you take a lump sum or monthly payments?
  • How should you diversify your investments?
  • What should you do with your 401(k) savings?
  • How do investment expenses impact the long-term growth of my account?
We also meet with members individually to discuss their unique situation and develop a customized Retirement Income and Investment Plan.  We suggest appropriate rollover vehicles for their 401(k), lump sum pension (if applicable) and other accounts.  Our representatives will walk the member through the retirement process, step-by-step.

Ongoing Member Services

After a member joins one of our plans, we offer annual reviews of their accounts. Our experienced retirement planning staff responds to any inquiries on their account ranging from asset allocation to beneficiary changes. The Regional Manager is also available to respond to inquiries after workshops and any other time there is a need.

Members will have online access to account information at www.scarboroughalliance.com and will also receive quarterly statements and newsletter information. Contact Scarborough today at (800) 223-7608 to learn more.
